The Vision Steppers were birthed ten years ago by Dabe James at Immaculate Conception School in the South Bronx NY . Vision started as a step team of seven for girls grades 6 and 7 with 10 girls as their founding members. From that small group of seven young ladies, Vision steppers has grown to more than 60 members strong, ranging in ages from 6th Grade to sophomore in college. As a group they have performed and competed in many different cities across the country.
They have earned first place awards in many different competitions: Most recently, they were named “2012 Northeast Grand Champions in Step” at the Cheer Dance Step America competition in Hershey Park PA. and the “2012 Step For Success” First Place winners in New York State.
Additionally they earned First place in the “Best of the Best 2009 and 2012″ step competition held at Mercy College.
Vision have appeared on television as McDonald’ s Gospelfest finalist 2008-2011, and in a recently aired ESPN documentary about stepping.
Shades of Vision Steppers (SOV) is an ensemble of The Vision Steppers & Shades of Flavor (Directed by Kareem Dixon) of New Rochelle NY, that have come together to form SHADES OF VISION Steppers. While both groups will still exist, this group of ladies have created the hottest step team in the Hudson Valley.
Vision: is the ability to see clearly that which is inspired from God. This step team is more than just a team, we are a family. We vary in culture, size, and age, but the one thing we have in common is that we step for God. The goal is to inspire others, especially today’s generation, to be courageous and supportive and stand for all that they believe. As a member of the team, these young women learn patience, courage, honesty, trust, love, responsibility, and have found a place that they can call “home away from home.” The team dares to be different by stepping for the Lord and not just to win competitions or entertain others. This is their second family and they chose this group because share the joy we receive from stepping.
